HISTORY
Formalin, a fundamental component of glue production, is very important product of the company. Its production started in Chemko, n.p. in 1956 on the german production unit with annual capacity 11.000 tons of formalin (calculation for 100% formaldehyde). The second production unit with the same capacity and based on the same technology as the first one, started to work in 1962.
The fourth production unit in the company, established in 1980, is able to produce a wide range of technical, pure and pharmaceutical types of formalin with a formaldehyde concentrations in products ranging from 36 to 50 % of wt., methanol content ranging from 0.3 to 15 % of wt., and the maximum content of formic acid 0.025 % of wt.
Production of Diakol line glues, based on urea-formaldehyde condensates and used in wood-processing and furniture industries started in Chemko, n.p. Stráľske in 1962 by building-up a discontinuous production unit with the annual capacity 15.000 tons of formalin, which has gradually increased to 50.000 tons. By setting a new continuous production unit into operation in 1978, the next production stage started. Extensive development in the production of urea-formaldehyde based glues was accompanied by stepwise process innovation and the quality increase to the level of formaldehyde emission standard E1 (EN 120). Also, the reactivity of glues used in modern chipboard production by continuous moulding presses was increased. Since 1991, the production of glues with increased water-resistance has started based on melamine-, urea-, phenol- and formaldehyde condensates.
Since the 1st of July, 2004, the production of formalin and glues is conducted by DIAKOL STRÁ®SKE, Ltd.
We will build on this successful tradition of glue production in the future and by innovations and intensive application services we want to meet our customers demands.
